What is NEET ?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET (UG), formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH (BAMSBUMSBHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.[3]

The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation

NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India.

In the NEET paper, students are asked questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based on class 11 and 12 syllabi. Usually, NEET is conducted annually on the first Sunday of May from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. NTA will announce the NEET 2022 exam date on the official website.

Every year more than 15 lakh aspirants register for NEET admission to 83,075 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 50,720 AYUSH, and 525 veterinary seats along with 1,899 AIIMS MBBS and 249 JIPMER seats.   • NEET is mandatory for Indian/Overseas candidates for admission to a medical University in India.

  • Age Limit: General- 17 to 25 years,SC/ST/OBC/PWD – 17 to 30 years

  • All India Quota seats: Foreign nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), NRIs, Person of Indian Origin (PIO) is entitled to the reservation under 15% All India Quota seats. J & K candidates are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats.

  • Qualification: The candidate who is appearing or has appeared in the 12th may apply for NEET. Their admission is confirmed only after clearing the 12th exam.

  • Number of Attempts – Candidates can attempt NEET as many times as they wish until they attain the maximum age limit.

 NEET Eligibility Criteria for BSc Nursing Admission

  • Minimum age: Students should be 17 years as of December 31, 2022

  • Qualifying examination: Candidates should have passed Class 12 with physics, chemistry, biology and English as compulsory subjects

  • Minimum aggregate marks: General category aspirants must have passed the qualifying examination with 45% marks, while for SC/ST/OBC the minimum marks should be 40%

  • Reservation policy: 3% of the reservation will be provided to the Person with Disability (PwD) candidates

 NEET Eligibility Criteria for NRI/Foreign Students

Candidates who have completed their education from outside the country must fulfil the NEET eligibility criteria. The last examination which must pass by NRI/Foreign students should be equivalent to Class 12 qualification in their respective country. Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have passed the theory and practical test in each of these subjects as well as English in the qualifying examination.

Application Process

Candidates need to follow the steps given below to complete the NEET 2022 registration and application process.

  • Visit the official website of NEET 2022
  • Click on the tab indicating NEET 2022 Registration

  • Read the instructions carefully and click on the confirmation checkbox at the end of the page

  • Click on ‘Proceed to apply online for NEET (UG) 2022’

  • Once the registration form opens, enter details such as the Candidate's name, Mother's name, Father's name, Category, Person with Disability, Disability details, Date of birth, Gender, Nationality, State of eligibility (for 15 per cent All India Quota), Select identification type and number, Mobile Number, Email Id, Security pin.

  • Check the details that you have entered and now select "Preview and Next"

  • Click "Next" to proceed and create a password

  • Choose a security question and answer

  • Click on "OTP Verification"

  • You will receive a six-digit OTP on your registered email Id/ mobile number

  • Enter the OTP and submit the registration form

  • A provisional NEET application number is generated which needs to be preserved till the admission process is over

Once candidates complete the registration process, they need to proceed towards filling up the NEET 2022 application form. The detailed procedure is given below.

How to Fill NEET 2022 Application Form

Before proceeding towards filling and submitting the NEET 2022 application form, candidates need to keep their NEET login credentials (username and password) handy. The steps for NEET 2022 application process are as follows:

  • Visit the official website of NEET 2022 and login with the username and password

  • The first step is to click on the ‘Apply Online’ tab wherein the registration details will be prefilled

  • The details regarding candidate category, date of birth, place of birth (India or abroad) and state and district of birth, whether the candidate is suffering from Type-I Diabetes have to be filled from the dropdown box

  • Next, candidates have to choose their medium of NEET question paper

  • Select up to four exam cities in order of preference

  • Enter details regarding school and board from which candidates have completed Class 11 and Class 12

  • Year of passing Class 12

  • Roll number of Class 12 (Board exam roll number)

  • Current and permanent address

  • Occupation and income details of parents/guardians

  • Mention if customary dress code would be worn (as per NEET 2022 dress code)

  • Enter security code

  • Review the NEET application form and check for errors

  • Click on “Final Submit” to submit your application

  • The next step is to ‘Upload Scanned Images’ wherein candidates will have to upload passport size and postcard size photograph, left-hand thumb impression and signature in the stipulated dimensions and file format

  • The third step is that of ‘Make Payment’ wherein candidates have to select the desired payment mode and pay the applicable fee

  • The fourth and final step is to ‘Print Confirmation Page’ of the NEET 2022 application form and keep save it for future reference

NEET 2022 Registration Process-Phase 2

The second phase of the NEET 2022 registration process will commence after the exam is conducted and before the result. It is mandatory to fill the NEET 2022 second phase registration process within the stipulated date otherwise their candidature will be cancelled even if they fulfil the NEET 2022 cut off.   • Visit the official website of NEET 2022

  • Log in with the NEET 2022 application number, password, and captcha

  • Enter the One Time Password (OTP) which will be sent to the registered mobile numbers

  • Click on 'Verify & Proceed for Correction'

  • Enter the details or edit the information entered in the first phase of the registration

The NEET 2022 registration process is completely online. Candidates must ensure that they have a stable internet connection while filling the application form. Those who stay in remote locations and do not have internet access may visit the nearest Common Services Centre (CSC) to complete the NEET 2022 registration process.

  • While filling in the NEET application form, the option of the medium of NEET question paper 2022 has to be exercised.
  • The option once exercised by candidates cannot be changed later.

  • Candidates opting for English would be provided NEET 2022 test booklet in English only.

  • Students opting for Hindi would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi.

  • All candidates opting for regional languages would also be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in their selected regional language and English.

  • In case of any ambiguity in the translation of any of the questions, the English version of the NEET question paper shall be treated as final.

Marking Scheme of NEET Exam

Aspirants can go through the marking scheme of NEET 2022 and easily know how the marks will be allotted by the authorities after the conclusion of the exam.

  • For each correct answer in NEET, 4 marks will be awarded, and one mark will be deducted for each wrong attempt.

  • If any candidate will leave the question un attempted, there is no negative marking for that as per the NEET exam pattern 2022.

  • Once aspirants mark their answers in the NEET 2022 OMR sheet, it is not possible to change it.

  • Candidates are advised not to attempt multiple answers during the NEET exam as it will cost a negative marking.

Instructions for Filling OMR Sheet

Aspirants should be aware of the instructions to fill the NEET 2022 OMR sheet, to avoid any kind of inconvenience in the exam.

  • As per the NTA guidelines, all NEET answers have to be marked using a ballpoint pen.

  • The ballpoint pen will be provided by the authorities inside the exam hall of NEET 2022.

  • The candidate has to mark the code test booklet code on the NEET OMR sheet, as failing to this will lead the candidates in problems.

  • All the required rough work should be done in the space provided in the test booklet

  • As per the NEET 2022 paper pattern, once marked answer in the OMR sheet can't be erased.

NEET admit card can be downloaded from the release date till the last date of the exam. The relevant information about the NEET entrance admit card can be gathered from the (ntaneet.nic.in). The candidates require their login credentials to download NEET admit card- the login credentials include the NEET application number and password. which will be conducted by NTA. How to Download NEET Admit Card?

  • The candidates can easily download NEET UG admit card 2022. The first and foremost step is to visit the official NEET website

  • Secondly, you can click on the option given: “download admit card”

  • As soon as the page will get processed you will be asked to enter the registration number, DOB, and security pin

  • Once you have entered your credentials you will be directed to your admit card. Be very vigilant while checking your details on the admit card.

  • Once you are done with the checking you can download and take the print of your admit card

What to do if NEET Admit Card is Lost?

You can download your admit card again from the official NTA website. The admit card can be downloaded any number of times before the exam date, but to be on the safer side students are requested to have an extra copy of the admit card. NTA sends the students a copy of the admit card on their registered email IDs, so in case any student loses their admit card he/she can download it from the email and can get it printed.

How to Retrieve the Application Number for NEET

On the official website of NTA, you will find online services option. On the online services page, you will find forgot registration number option click on it and fill the details such as:

  • Candidate’s number

  • Father’s name

  • Mother’s name

  • Date of birth

  • Security pin

Forgot NEET login ID and Password?

If any student has lost the login Id and password then he/she can take the assistance of the NEET website. On the NEET website select, the forgot password link. After the link gets opened the student will be asked to fill registration number, candidate’s name, DOB, and security pin. 
The website provides various options that the student can choose to reset the NEET password.

NEET 2022 Preparation Tips

  • Begin with Biology and one other subject simultaneously. Start studying the strongest topics with the most weightage. This way you will cover more topics in less time.

  • Read NCERT line by line. Mark important facts with a highlighter and make notes simultaneously. After completing NCERT, start reading extra study material available in the form of books, and preparation websites. Also, make notes from these references.

  • For Biology, learn diagrams by heart to understand a topic. Pictures help you retain the information more effectively. Diagrams are an important factor for NEET 2022 preparation.

  • For physics, solve as many questions as you can. Additionally, create a chapter-wise formula sheet that comprises all formulas and laws discussed in the chapter.

  • For chemistry, learn diagrams and chemical equations by heart. After completing every chapter, create a sheet for chemical equations and formulas to be used in solving the questions.

What to Carry on Exam Day?

NTA has given NEET admit card release date, along with the admit card date the guidelines were also announced for the candidates who will be appearing for the examination. It is vital for the students to know about the guidelines so that they can avoid doing mistakes unwillingly. The student should be clear about what to carry, what not to carry, the information in context with the question paper, dos and don’ts, reporting time, and other things as well.

Some basic guidelines about what to carry along with the 2022 neet admit card is as follows: 

  • The student should carry the admit card that has been downloaded from the NTA website, the printout should be clear on an A4 size paper

  • The student should carry a passport size photograph that was uploaded on the online application form; this photograph will be pasted on the attendance sheet at the centre. 

  • An original photo Id proof it may be a PAN card/ driving license/ passport/ aadhar card/ voter ID.

  • The students are not allowed to carry geometry/ pencil box/ instrument, purse, handbag, any kind of paper/textual material/ stationery, eatables and water, mobile phone/ microphone/ earphone/pager, calculator, slide rules, documents, camera, tape recorder, log tables, to wear or carry any type of watch that has calculator facilities or any sort of metallic item or electronic gadgets/devices in the examination hall.

SYLLABUS

The NEET Syllabus is prepared on the guidelines of MCI. It contains topics from PhysicsChemistry, and Biology from class 11th and 12th. Students must study the entire syllabus prescribed with dedication.
